These lessons are designed to introduce your baby to the aquatic environment. Water familiarisation, aquatic readiness, and all of the essentials for swim skill development are the focus of these lessons. In a small class of 6, infants will be introduced to breath control, buoyancy & floating, basic movement, & directional change through developmentally appropriate tasks, games and songs

Toddlers (from 15 to 36 months)

These classes allow for children to begin exploring the aquatic environment. Whether your child is building on skills learned in our infant classes, or is new to swimming lessons, toddlers in this class will learn tasks that assist in the development of their water safety schema, and awareness of the aquatic environment. Children continue to develop essential skills such as breath control, swimming in two planes, basic movement, submersion and buoyancy skills & floating.

All of our age appropriate activities are designed to be fun, instructive & stimulating.

Basic Advantage (3yrs+)

Advantage Aquatics - Swim Lesson for Toddlers

This is our first level of independent group lessons and commences at 3 years old.

Swimmers at this level develop and consolidate fundamental skills for learning to swim. Essential buoyancy & floating skills are a focus at this level along with paddling, kicking, resting techniques and back sculling. Safety skills are embedded within the lesson. For the development of water safety and survival skills, goggles are not encouraged at this level.

Advantage

Advantage Aquatics - Swim Lesson for Toddlers

Maximum 4 students per group lessons

This is our introductory freestyle level. Children must be able to dog paddle at least 5m unaided, and be able to prone & back float without assistance to enter this level. Swimmers focus on developing a strong streamline technique, and begin to learn freestyle breathing technique. Freestyle stroke, kick and breathing are introduced using a kickboard. Back kicking and sculling are further developed and backstroke using a kickboard is introduced. Children begin to develop whole stroke skills.

Additional water safety and survival techniques are taught at this level, and all swimmers develop competencies both with and without goggles.

Advantage Plus

Advantage Aquatics - Swim Lesson for Toddlers

Maximum 4 students per group lessons

Our Advantage Plus swimmers begin to develop unaided freestyle and backstroke skills. This level focusses on continued development of good stroke, kick and breathing techniques over increased distances without the assistance of a kickboard. This level also introduces the fundamentals of breaststroke. More advanced water safety and survival skills are tested, and swimmers are expected to learn all tasks with and without goggles.

Development Advantage

Advantage Aquatics - Swim Lesson for Toddlers

Maximum 6 students per group lessons

This final learn to swim level is a stroke development class designed for our most advanced swimmers. Correct technique is developed across all strokes and butterfly is introduced. Swimmers will develop continuous swimming skills, build strength, stamina and confidence, and are introduced to the basics of starts, finishes and turns.

Swimmers who complete this level are considered ready to enter a junior squad programme. Goggles are required for these classes.
